I am on two other foums right now- one for work related talk which gets pretty catty sometimes (been called some not-so-nice names on there) and a soap opera board

I know, it's lame but it is yet just another escape from reality. I am pretty sure most posters there are around age 15 so I don't post there too often-just read spoliers (been personally attacked there too).
I come to this board so I won't be drinking alone

Just kidding. It is a very positive place. I feel welcomed here, even if I do have a bad day. The only problem is that no one can hear the voice inflection or see your facial expression to understand when you are making a joke or being sarcastic.

I agree with you MrsB. I think that sometimes things being said are taken out of context because you can "hear" the voice. I use a lot of

to try to keep that from happening.

I started out on the other board, still visit there occasionally, but like it here much better
I find it refreshing to know that there are other totally obsessed people out there - it's a relief actually

Although it's no cure for the obsession part, I thoroughly enjoy the friendly exchanges, comic relief, and the useful information you all provide on a daily basis - now if only I had a trip planned!.
I truly wish I had more time to contribute - and I wish I could make it "seven" on the beach

This is the only message board I visit/post on. I started out as a lurker, just gathering all the invaluable information that gets posted here and shortly thereafter found an immediate connection with all you other folks "getting-it" and equally obsessed with STJ. I feel almost bonded to each and every one of you through this connection and wish we could all meet some day (preferably at the Beach Bar). Like most others, this forum has now become part of my daily life. I'm feelin' the luv baby - thanks for including me! Friends forever. Ali~

I'm on a few and I've met some life long friends because of them too. I remember, the 1st one I was on, I was so afraid to post because I thought they would all turn out to be perverts.

I am so glad to have found out the truth!!

I was really active on this forum a year or so ago before it switched to the new format, and before I started my own company and lost myself in that for a year before realizing life exists beyond that.
I was so comfortable "talking" with people, that I shared with the forum in the middle of the night one night that I had lost my first beloved cat, my first roommate out of college, a day after returning from St. John. I was really sad about that (and not sure I could ever go to St. John again and not be saddened by my loss) and I received such kind words and sympathy from friends on the forum...so many people had experienced something similar and it was part of my healing process.
I started reading the forum again faithfully a few weeks ago. Met up with Bugs for the great private water taxi to STJ and the forum party at Beach Bar. I only belong to one other forum...a support group for people with cats who have stomatitis...a periodontial disease.
Cheers to all us St. John lovers!

I love you guys!
The first place I go in the morning and when I get home from work is this forum! My hubby gets jealous sometimes!!!
I agree that I get with all of you more often than I do my friends from here and even when I am with them I wish I could get on here so that they could see all the fun people I chat with every day!
Thank you all for sharing so much of yourselves with me!

Unlike MrsB, I am a member of MANY forums, moderate some, and was Admin/Owner on 2 PHPBB-based just like this one. Now that she is a bit of a forum addict now, albeit a newbie still, she understands a bit more what I was doing all those nights hunched over my laptop.
The 'out-of-context' like issue that MrsB and Bug mentioned happens all over. Sometimes it is hard to get your real feelings across. But with the help of the BBCODE tags, you can help yourself.
I've tried to help her out sometimes by taking a look at her posts, but in that way, we are doubly-dipped! Not only do I have to look for context misunderstandings, but I have to look for stuff that I 'get' but no one else would! Since we know each other so well, sometimes that is really hard!!!
I would be curious if any of us are also on other forums together and don't know it, like me and Ron_L over at riversmallies.com
