related but unrelated post, I recently started dabbling in astrophotography, star trails, REALLY low light photography, this post has me wishing I would have been into it a year ago on my last STJ trip. I also upgraded my camera since then. And man, It can see in the dark.
SOOOO this is Not STJ, but might inspire some folks to stay out way past their bedtime.

hmmmmm, maybe another trip is in the works.

2muchsnow, how long was your exposure on the star trails? I love that!

Nikon D7000, 12 mm lens, 20 minute exposure, f4, ISO 500.
Just need a camera with a bulb setting, a shutter release cable and a tripod.
And patience. I also used a long exposure noise reduction setting on my camera.
which doubles the processing time.

Full moon over Coral Harbor on New Years Eve 2009/2010. A very special New Years Eve - we were partying with the loria family at our villa!
(Pardon the blur - I hadn't yet bought a Gorillapod for my new camera, and had to hold it still which I clearly didn't do very well.)
