I agree with Becky!
If I don't plan, I waste food or spend too much money. I need to have a plan. There is no stress during the week, I know what I am making each night, and I have everything to make it.
I actually think that is more stressful without a plan!

P.S. I remembered that I had some turkey kielbasa in the freezer so I threw that into the cabbage soup at the end. It was great!

The "better half" likes the canned green beans in the recipe plans to make this weekend

I normally cook with as many fresh veggies as I can but Tuesday is yoga night and whatever is easiest that I cn throw in the crockpot works best for me. :D

Thinking about some sort of semi-Italian version of Chicken Murphy to use up some of the hot and sweet peppers from the first round of cleaning out the garden, but it will be sausage free as we don't eat that. For the sauce, I am thinking of some combo of chicken stock, white wine, and a splash or 2 of vinegar. Any suggestions from your own versions welcome.

Husband bought a Huge package of hamburger, so I made some black bean chili. Through some hot sausage in there too.

Also made stuffed peppers. I'll freeze a few of them because it's only just the 2 of us now.

I make killer shrimp, green peppers and onions in adobe sauce, wrap them up in soft tacos, quac and sour cream. We'll have them tomorrow night.

The chicken stuffed shells were great. I deviated from the list and made them tonight because I had everything in the house. I used shredded roast chicken rather than ground chicken. That was a big hit, and is allllllll gonnnnnnne!
Care to share this recipe??

This thread is a great idea !! :D

Pam in Maine, the recipe link is upthread on one of exislandgirl's posts. As I said, I didn't grind up raw breasts, but shredded cooked breasts. The guys in my house don't go for anything ground except beef or sausage

Probably a nice beef vegetable soup, cause I've been holding on to this lovely soup bone....

This sounds like a great topic. I do not plan too far ahead. We have a limited menu to choose from because we don't eat anything but fish or chicken. Therefore, I have to plan how differently I'm going to use the two. Some nights we go vegetarian (tonight it's escarole and beans) with crispy wheat Italian bread.Last week it was broccoli rabe and chicken sausage. I could make this every night for my husband and he would love it. Tomorrow night it's filet of sole, gourmet rice with cranberries and almonds and broccoli ( we eat a lot of it). There's always grilled salmon on Saturday nights. So you see I really don't have to plan what food to buy, just how to make it differently.
Happy that fall is on the horizon because then we can start on the soup, chili, and some crock pot meals.
I shop a couple of times a week. Always go to the fish market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Hit the farm market for fresh veggies and the meat market for the quality of their meats. I do not buy these things in a super market.
Everything I make tastes better after a couple of glasses of wine!!
Looking forward to finding some recipes on this thread.
