Oh, my heart is melting. How adorable. Thank you for taking care of him and all the others.

I showed my 6yo those videos. Now he wants a pet baby deer!

I live in the heart of PA deer country and know several people that have tame deer that visit their yards. (Wild deer that they feed, not rescued/hand raised deer.) These deer will eat from your hand and are generally ok with being out in the yard with people. If they have a food source, they will definately hang around.

There are two animal parks that we visit with deer that were raised in captivity (due to similar situations, many deer are hit by vehicles in PA) and those deer are very tame and tolerate being touched/petted.

Cheryl, you are definitely racking up the karma points! Blake is absolutely wonderful and I was amazed watching Romeo and Patience's meh reactions. The kindnesses we offer to animals is repaid many times over in the gifts they offer us.

Very interesting, thanks for that info PA Girl, I hope that Blake will hang around as he gets older so that they know he's safe and healthy.

Here is one of "my" deer. We feed them at the edge of the property but for a number reasons (deer ticks at the top of the list), I do not try to draw them in. I am sitting in the chair right in front of the one in the edge of the picture.

Maybe it is because they are so common here but Blake is far cuter than the PA variety.

Is this fawn one of the tiny teacup deer? I know Caneel has some very tiny deer there too along with lots of the normal size white tail deer.

I read the blog earlier today. Blake is so precious! Thank you Cheryl for keeping us posted!

         Good Night! I just now saw this post and want to thank Pia for the post
         and for all the kind and supportive comments everyone left.

         Update: Blake and I spent 3 weeks last month living on the protected property he
         will grow to adulthood on. There is an adoptive herd that passes through
         the property and Blake will be introduced to that herd when he is old enough.

         I was only caring for Blake while the owner of that property was off island.
         She has returned and Blake is in her care now.

         I am so thankful that the group of women who found him and worked
         together to rescue this orphan trusted me to help. I know what a gift it was
         getting to take care of such an amazing animal and I will cherish my month with
         Blake for the rest of my life. -cheryl
