But then the rates would have to go up stjchica and then people would complain that it is more expensive and if it is more expensive then they want it to be a private villa - catch 22 
We are thinking of adding a small pool in the future to our home - probably around 15'x20' or 16'x16' - more of a plunge pool (actually I am calling it a ledge in the water to sit and have cocktails ) and we are guessing $50,000 !!!!! Not cheap to add a pool on STJ.
As far as a hot tub goes - no way - I don't see the attraction I mean all the "honeymooners" that want a hot tub (I think we can guess why) I'm sure they are thinking the water is changed between villa guests......not !!!! and the chances are, the guests that were there the week before and the guests that will be arriving also want the hot tub for the same reason - and if they don't, because of what "might" have happened in that hot tub the week before I'm not getting in one. Just something for all you "villa must have a hot tub" folks to think about

LOL Pia! I hear ya loud and clear! I won't stick a toe in a hot tub...or a tub that's not mine. My kids like them, so I usually try to book a villa with both a pool and a hot tub...but if it were just me...i'd get neither. I'm a beach girl all the way!!!

HAHAHAHA!!! This is so true, you will never ever find me near a hot tub. Plus, it's HOT on St. John! I really don't get the appeal of a hot tub in the Caribbean. A pool, though--a pool is nice. Plus there's more water in it to dissipate any....residual traces of previous guests

I'd never get in a "public" hot tub, either. Ish. People soup.

I agree.... if this place had a hot tub, I would jump on it. However, the cost of operating a hot tub is more than people realize. Electric and chemicals avg. $10-20/week. It is likely that those costs would be higher, since with a greater variety of people, which means more chemicals(and some use bathing suits) Plus, you need to change the water every 4 months, maybe every 2-3 months depending on how dirty the water gets. Let alone the cost of a good hot tub.... sooo, with the cost of tub, chemicals, electric, and water, you could expect a total monthly cost of about $100-150. Soooo, places with tubs will cost more to rent. I have a tub at home, and would LOVE to have a tub at STJ when we come in November!

Totally agree with the no Hot Tub
Never could really stand them anyway but after the mental picture I just got now I know for sure NEVER.
I was able to stay at the Hillside Villas a couple of years ago for a little over $800.00 for 4 of us. It was somebody trying to get rid of their timeshare. Sometimes you can get a good deal if you go through Redweek.com or looking on ebay.
Thank you all for your suggestions though. It gives me some more places to look for the next trip down.
Wanting to go back the end of this year but not sure it's going to work out. If it's not this year though it is definitely next. I just can't stay away very long from where my rest and relaxation is. Nothing like St. John!!

We stayed at Sailview the last 2 years and it was great fun and a great value. I like to stay at nice places and this is very nice. Last time, we invited my brother in law & his wife, so they booked the other room. That will need some far ahead planning next time because Sailview is really getting booked up.
This year, we have a lot more family coming and need a big expensive villa. We'll miss all the attention from Eileen and MIke!
IMO, no pool or hot tub needed at Sailview. Swim in the ocean! Just found out the pool in our new expensive villa will be too cold to swim in this spring.
