I forgot to mention:

The garden showers are amazing.

And, if the older kids are at all into walking/running, the Maria Bluff neighborhood is perfect for that. It's a bit hilly but, it's a beautiful and safe place to exercise. That can be hard to find on STJ.

Honestly, I would recommend two cars.

We've been to STJ 9 times and only one of those trips was with a toddler in tow and the experience was completely different.

For our August 2011 trip there were two couples, one with a toddler, and it was imperative that each couple have their own vehicle.

The other "couple" isn't old enough to drive a rental on STJ. Taxis it is, for them, if they venture out without the parents and baby.

Marcia (Mrs. Pete),

You sold me on "the garden showers are amazing." lol! I called today and booked Villa Splendore! Thank you for your help! It was only available until June 12. Apparently they do not rent after that date so we knew we were flexible in June so we booked ten days at the beginning of June. It was only a little more than what we had wanted to spend but I think we will really enjoy it!

Gigi- Thank you! Perelandra looks beautiful! Especially the view of St. Thomas. I have to admit that when I inquired about Villa Splendore and heard about how fast it books I didn't waste time. My daughter and her boyfriend were just so amazed by the pictures...I will consider this house on my next trip!

Teresa_Rae- Hi! I would love to have two cars but like Marcia mentioned the other couple (my daughter and her boyfriend) are too young. And considering my daughter's car is at the auto body shop for major repairs, it will be safer for all if we drove them :)

Yes, our trip will definitely be different with a toddler from what we're used to. My husband and I have been to St. John several times by ourselves. We are used to camping, hiking, and snorkeling our days away. I think that is the major reason we are focusing on the villa and its amenities so much now. We don't plan our bringing our little guy all over the island. That wouldn't be fair to him or anyone enjoying their 'quiet' time on the island! :)We will bring him on little trips and mostly focus on enjoying the villa with him. I love Marcia's idea of taking the bedroom near the pool. I originally was going to take the room with the balcony but liked her idea of enjoying the pool and being able to have the baby rest nearby! :)

The house is close enough I assume to the Westin or Cruz bay that if the kids need to catch a taxi or just want to go to Cruz Bay my husband or I can drop them off if we are not able to go with them. I know this trip will take a little more effort than the previous trips but we will make it work! :) I hope! ;) Thanks for your input!

It would take you guys 10 minutes, round trip, to drop them off in Cruz Bay. They can cab back, if you are not in the mood to go back out and get them.

So glad you booked this villa. I know you will love it; it fits your needs perfectly.
