Thank you all! We took the advice of contacting Windspree and they had us settled in a villa within hours!
Unbelieveably, an hour after we moved in to the villa our rental Jeep from Dependable on STT broke down on Centerline Road as we headed to town for groceries!

So two things I will never do again, stay at Estate Concordia or rent a vehicle on St. Thomas!

WHAT A TRIP! All is good now though and I will provide more details when we are home...the villa does not have internet....

I cannot thank you all enough for your help--you all saved our vacation in so many ways! :D

I passed you when you broke down (I was heading in the other direction) I was in the white Jeep Liberty - I stopped and asked if you were OK (from my car as it was raining) and you said all was good - I think you were on the phone at the time - small world :)

Glad all is well now.

Ok, I'm curious, we always have this discussion about renting on STT vs STJ, but few people have had problems. How did you deal with the car breakdown?

I have been renting on ST for the last 5 years and with Dependable the last 2.The only breakdown we had was in Charlotte Amalie 2 years ago.Tierod broke and she was going nowhere.Took hours for them to get us.Almost missed flight.
We just back from SJ last Monday. We decided last week that we would go back to renting on SJ because I worried the whole time about something going wrong.

Agreed, we always rent on STJ to avoid the worry while trying to relax. Just curious how they pulled this one off.

I'm curious to know how the Jeep situation got resolved also.
We haven't booked our vehicle yet for our next trip. I've been debating where to rent as the convenience of loading kids up at the airport and driving without unloading until you get to the villa is so attractive, but the consequences of a broken down vehicle and two kids stuck could be disastrous and ruin a vacation.

Being July, it's possible the tent was too hot/muggy for them. Especially with 5 people, 2 of them being kids.

yeah, having been there in August i can see if you weren't in a breezy area it might not be the best situation--hope that is all it was.

Discount Car Rental

We just returned from STJ on Wednesday and rented from Discount on STT and loved them. Our Jeep Wrangler was almost new and very clean inside and out. When I asked what would happen if I broke down, they said to call them and they would send a mechanic over. If you get a flat, (which we did)you are on your own, but that was no big deal.

I have previously used Dependable twice and rented on STJ once. Dependable had told us that you are responsible for repairs on STJ if you break down.

I will definitely use Discount again if I ever get back. I personally love throwing my stuff in the car and heading to store and car barge.
