Sorry about your camera! We got our D10 for our Jan 2010 trip to STJ and it was great- but then when we used it to go kayaking around our home in May - it turned on - then shut off saying there was an error - which after researching on line, found out is a common problem with the D10- and needs to be sent back for repair or replacement. Unlike everyone else here, I did not have the best experience with their customer service- they "repaired" the camera - but the 2nd time after using it had the error again- so back it went - had to argue with them for them to finally send me a new one - so far, so good though

Good luck to you- I can't wait to see your giant turtle!![/i]

Wow! I was thinking about buying the D10, but now I think I will stick with my old SD950IS with it's waterproof case.

I should clarify - the problem we had with our D10 seems to be a common reason WHEN there is a problem, not that it is common to happen to begin with.

Came home today to a brand new canon D10 on my doorstep!!! The camera was out of warranty by 6 months but they replaced it. Now how do I find the nerve to take the new one snorkeling lol.

Nice! Props to Canon, but wouldnt it be more cost effective to address any design or build issues than repairing/replacing too many D10s?

I am really curious what the overall failure rate for this camera is. I have certainly read many reports here and on amazon about flooding. I think it has to be more than an operator error issue--I am very careful with my cameras--always check the seals etc., and one of my D10s flooded on its third use. I should have sent it back to them based on others success rates in that regard.
