Verizon is useless there. I was told by Verizon that email, web and texting would be the same as if we were in US...no charge and no roaming but that calls would be 1.99. When we landed, nothing worked (text did eventually) unless I turned on the roaming capabilities. Total mis-information. Now my friend's AT&T phone worked great.
