There's no way I could justify the cost of that service.

I like to go food shopping at Starfish and Dolphin (except for the lady the had rude comments for me buying bottled water ) but really how much time does it take? 10-15 mins after the beach or happy hour?

I like to provision for the first night and morning, plus the bottled water, liquor, beer, etc. The villa mgt company takes care of it, according to a list we provide (it's not a "kit"). They charge a $25 flat fee. It's a very long travel day for us and we feel that this is well worth it to have some food in at the villa so we can just relax, especially if we hit delays.

We provision most of the time and I love it! It's more money, but it is so nice not to have to hurry to get to the grocery. I make sure to include water, alcoholand mixers, cheese and crackers, breakfast food, deli meats, cheese, bread, etc for sandwiches, and whatever else to get us through the first couple of days. I don't mind grocery shopping, but I like to do it when I want, usually not upon arrival. We have used both Katilady and Villa Food and been happy with both. I really liked the flexibility of villa food though, and that the non-perishables were put away as well as the perishables.

I've used Kati Lady a few times & they were unbelievably wonderful.
Since my beautiful bride to be is unbelievable in the kitchen, we tend to bring down some stuff,- porkroll, dogs, burgers, steaks, etc...
I want to learn how to grill local seafood, and where to find it.

A South Jersey boy needs his porkroll...

We provisioned last year. It was great to get to the Villa after a long day and have food and drink there. We did end up at the grocery store a couple of times during the week to pick up a few things, but it is so worth it after a long day of traveling. My husband liked the idea so much that now whenever we go someplace (Jersey Shore, Maine Lake), he wants to provision there also!

All right, now you guys are talking me into this.

How does Villa Foods know where to deliver the stuff to? How do they get a key? I do not know the address of the villa...

Just tell them the name of the villa and the on Island management person. They will locate it.

It is strange that the poll is running about 2 to 1 against provisioning, but 80% of the comments are for provisioning. Perhaps the poll wording needs to be changed to:

Provison for the first night and next day?

Provision for the entire stay?

No provisioning at all, you prefer to do it yourself.

That may have a different response percentage....

Yeah, if I provision it will be for the first night (not dinner, just wine and cheese and cracker stuff), and picnic lunch the next day.

I would love to do this, but we're budget travellers. I'm tempted each time, but can't justify the cost right now.
If money weren't so tight, we'd definitely do it.
