I think 10 day trips are perfect! I'd love 14 days in paradise, but honestly, if it was me, I'd go for 9 days and plan a smaller trip somewhere else later in the year.
That being said, if you want to go for 14 days, I highly recommend searching around for a college student to live in and cat sit. I did this and so did several of my friends, for people when we were in college. We loved having a whole house to ourselves for the week and usually I'd just charge 150 a week. I always got jobs by word of mouth so ask around!
