I didn't read any posts that said that they shouldn't go - but I did read some (mine included) that suggested that they might not be as excited about leaving the little one behind once he/she arrives.

In that vein, it might make sense to hold off from making a financial commitment now for an event that might want to be postponed or altered later.

In my household my wife and I value our alone time, and we've gone on a trip for just the two of us every year since the youngest one was a year and a half old. We got a week to be "us", and Grandmom and the boys got a week to enjoy each other's company.

That being said, my wife would definitely not have been ready to go away childless, even for a few days, when either of our boys were that young, and I don't know if we would have been aware of that ahead of time.

Just sayin...

If you can wait until the end of Nov to mid Dec you will decrease your chances of tropical stormy weather. That is our favorite time to visit. We like to go anytime after Thanksgiving to the 15th of Dec. Dec 15 is the change from low to high season rates on a majority of villas. Everything is open, the island is usually a lush green, the water is warm and the "crowds" have not arrived. Most pools are a bit chilly though. You do have the possibilities of Christmas winds, norther swells and the odd late season tropical storm. Mostly it is rain overnight and pop-up showers during the day.
