We booked two weeks in May at our MOST favorite villa on island - Casa Del Sol! Yeah!

It's our ten year anniversary and this is where we held our wedding reception so it's extra super extra super special to us.

Cannot wait! Oh, wait - yes I can - I leave on Saturday for 13 days on island

Those are gorgeous! I looked at the website. His stuff is totally up my alley. A question about those glass balls. When you tilt them, does the sand move or is everything stuck in place on the inside? I would think, if it's not stuck in place, that over time, the seashells and whatnot would get buried.

I love his work too! It's kind of like a snow globe in that you can pick it up and shake it to see a different scene. All the shells and seaglass come up to the top. My husband had extra sea glass put in for me and they even engrave the bottom to commemorate the occasion.

Valley Doll Hot Sauce is a great STJ present and is made by Nancy, who when I was last there, works at Shipwreck. Nancy is Donna's sister, [Shipwreck's long time bartender].She makes two variations of the sauce, one being a organic habanero/garlic base [my favorite] and the other is curry based.I'm pretty sure that Larry was also selling them at The Tourist Trap., or at least they were on the tables.I'm a hot sauce freak and the Valley Doll 151 is one of my all time favorites.

That sounds great; I was really moved reading this.

Which brought to mind what I gave for Christmas. (Not to sound pitiful, but I did not receive any gifts for Xmas. We don't have children or nieces/nephews, so it just seems silly to exchange gifts. Plus, our travels - STJ twice, England, Italy, California twice, all in 2010 - are gifts enough for me.)

So, back to what I gave for Christmas...
My father turned 80 in November. My siblings and I all flew to California to celebrate with him and some of his close friends. We all compiled our photos, and created a printed hardcover photo album commemorating the weekend. He was really touched when he received the album as his Christmas gift. He's a man that buys the "toys" he wants, so to give him "stuff" is really silly. Plus I made a donation to his favorite charity http://www.angelflight.org. At the ripe age of 80, he still flies patients from remote areas to larger metropolitan areas to receive chemo or other therapies that are needed. The pilots who volunteer their time, donate not only their time, but fuel and of course wear and tear on their planes. My dad rocks!

We had agreed to not buy each other gifts this year. Only stocking stuffers. I was suprised in my stocking with a beautiful Larimar necklace that he ordered from TuTu Much. A little STJ to hold me over until we are there in May.

A sterling octopus slide from Freebird. S/O bought it when we were there in June. It hung on the tree for 2 days before christmas...I never saw it!

VI Lover ~ oh my, that is a gorgeous piece of artwork. A labour of love from you Dad to show you that he is so very proud of you and your accomplishments. What a treasure that is.
