Well, I'm an idiot...'cause I don't know what it means.

I do know the one about not killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

The USVI tells us to come, but, then, there are those, like you, who tell us to go away.

Which is it? Do you want our $$$$ or not?

I have said nothing negative to your club or recently about the STJ Condos and never said do not visit - you will have to excuse me now I have a goose to baste.

Instead of continuing the argument about Grande Bay - I hope you will all read Susan's trip report (which is very good!) and then go to the Wounded Warrior's site and donate some money to help those men and women have a memorable trip to the place we all love.

It is quite clear that we are not all going to agree on this topic. But I hope that those of you in disagreement with Grande Bay will respect any future posts by me and others that may own there and choose to stay there while on island. I have enjoyed this forum for many years and hope to continue to do so.

Tracy, I hope that you and your family enjoy your purchase for many years to come. I'm sorry for upsetting you, and other members of the forum, for thoughtlessly posting my picture,and memory, of the first that I had seen of Grande Bay. My bad! Please don't throw me out of the club!
Pete, Exit Zero in my opinion, has been a huge educator to this board regarding the infrastructure of the island and is justifiably upset by the rapid Key West-ing of STJ. That said, every time that I come down there,rent a jeep, rent a villa,etc. I not only contribute to the local economy, but I also contribute to the decay of the infrastructure and the culture of STJ. Pete, you and Marcia have been coming down for a lot longer then I have, and I have also seen your posts expressing your indignation of the mega-mansions on Peter Bay. We all seem to detest many of the changes, yet we're all the problem. I just wish there was a solution. Alas, we're all loving the island to death.

Get over it.

I don't believe the Bay Isle/Grand Bay issue will die in the near future. The arguments have no reflection on the condo owners since they should have been informed of all the violations prior to closing. The issue here is, the community is sick and tired of the lack of government over sight on development and Grand Bay and Bay Isles is a good place to start. Concerned individuals over unlawful development are are also entitled to get what they want and they want answers.

1. I believe the entire building is effected by the license issue. See the definition of hotel in Title 29, chapter 3.
2. Recently, building code violations were discovered and will be soon brought the the attention of DPNR. All the stairs in the stair wells are of varying heights.
3. All buildings in the VI must adhere to the National Fire Prevention Association standards. There are at least a couple of fire code violations that exist in the buildings of Grand Bay.

These issues won't die until the government or courts give the concerned individuals the answers they deserve.

Mr. Mathes was contacted yesterday regarding Grand Bay's building code violations and possible fire code violations. Obviously, given that they are safety issues concerning all the occupants of the buildings, DPNR will investigate the situation and the issuance of the CO's. The concerned citizens of unlawful development on St. John are going to stay on top of this matter and inform the public as more information develops.
