I think that's called HDR.
It's a great photo but to be honest I don't love that technique. Something false about it to my eye.

Me too--it reminds me of these pictures that used to be sold at Home Shows back in the 80s--they were painted images scanned onto thin aluminum foil.

Congratulations to both of you - and K enjoy that trip to Ladera - it is a sweet place and a great prize.

Can I ask which cameras each of you used? I know it's not all the camera but the person taking the picture that enables you both to get such great shots but I was curious.

that was taken with a Nikon D50 but I also use a Nikon L100 for point and shoot.

My pic was taken with a crappy Olympus Stylus since my new D10 was lost as sea the day before. But hey, it got the job done! Mine was not picture quality that won but more for the subject of the picture I think.

Well put, MB and Becky. I am not a fan of that style. I appreciate enhancing photos but, when they come off looking that fake, they've lost me.
