Hello again!

Here is another video of last years event, created by William Stelzer, a St. John videographer.

Dean, thanks to you for being the spark that ignited this "Just Play!" event. The results of an individual's idea merging with corporate assistance, community involvement and the giving of caring bystanders are the smiling faces of tired but happy children. What could be better?

Ditto lprof- couldn't have said it any better or more eloquently. What a great thing!

Keeping my fingers crossed that there will be sun all day! Last year it poured in the morning, but that didn't stop the kids from having a blast. It was muddy, but I'm sure if you asked the kids, they'd say that just made it better.

We had the prize packing party on Saturday and everything went really smoothly. There have been a lot of great changes for this years event and I think the kids are going to be really excited. The prizes from Nike are AWESOME!!! Luigi from Verace donated some really nice participant medals, 2nd and 3rd place medals, and 1st place trophies, as well as a canvas bag. Lots of other goodies as well. Mat, from St. John Catering is donating the food this year and it's sure to please!

Just wanted to thank everyone for their support. I truly believe that this is the kind of thing that will drive the change we so desperately need on St. John. Our youth has been lost and forgotten for far too long. Thank you Dean and Thank you to all of you who have supported!

I am wondering if anyone went to get the sunscreen I sent. My shipping notification has multiple "notice left" status updates--according to the CVS website it's been at the St. John post office since September 27th and noone has picked it up? I hope this is not the case.

I hope it was a wonderful day, and that noone got sunburnt!

You know, I'm not really sure, but I hope they did!!! There was a table with sunscreen on it, but to tell you the truth, I didn't check it out. I had a tub of zinc in my little backpack that I kept using. Where did you send it??? St. John Community Foundation, correct? I will check with Paul. If it didn't get picked up and used this year, looks like we will be set for next year. Thank you so much for sending it!

The event was A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!! We had very sunny skies, a dry field, and a big turn out. I think the kids all had a great time. I pooped out around 2:30. The heat was a little too much for my 7 month pregnant self. But I had a great time watching all the kids. I kept score at the 50 yard dash and I was exhausted just watching them run. The younger ones were so funny, so full of energy. They turned the 50 yard dash into a 100 yard dash by running BACK to where they started. Man, they made me feel old!

Thank you everyone for your support. This year was better than the first, and next year will be even better. And of course, thank you to Dean for all of your hard work in putting this together and to all of your on island crew.

Yes, to the community foundation. I am glad that it was a successful day!
