Several years ago we arrived in Anguilla on a Sunday. The taxi driver told us that the grocery stores were closed. We said that we needed some coffee and bread for the next morning.
He said don't worry and drove us to his friends grocery store which was closed. He went upstairs over the store where his friend lived and brought him down to open up the store so we could get a few things.
Gotta love it.

Once in New Orleans I was riding the Charles St. streetcar, and the driver (conductor?) stopped the car and went into a restaurant to go pick up his dinner (and catch up on some gossip as well, because it took a while!)
I wonder what would happen if a T driver tried that here in Boston?

One of the passengers would jump in to the driver's seat and move the T along to their stop!

Whoa.
Sounds like one busy guy, having to do all that stuff while being at work! At least he'll be a bit more relaxed when he clocks out, and enjoys his personal time!
I love it!

For anyone who lives or has lived in a small town anywhere, this sounds very familiar.
