I'd stay at Cinnamon for almost free! Go for it :-)

True, I have seriously thought about staying at Cinnamon (those campsites are sooo close to the beach, even if it is camping!) so I guess the Westin would be better than that.

I told him what you all said about getting a week there when you don't own there, but he said that his agent had actually suggested it when he mentioned STT (Yes, I was that desperate for an island fix).

I guess we will see. I can't turn down cheap St. John. Especially since I'm totally going to have to fly on Spirit and check my carry-on to not pay an extra $50. The airfare is frightening this year, not to mention the itineraries. I have NEVER seen a flight from Nashville with an overnight layover before!

We recently returned from a 2-week stay for our wedding and stayed at The Westin in a 3-bedroom timeshare unit. It was excellent. The rooms were very clean and we had them cleaned every day (not that we asked for that but it just happened that way). I would definitely rent a car if possible. We rented from Conrad Sutton. Because we stayed at The Westin, Conrad both delivered and came to get the car so we did not have to go into town. I don't understand why some reviews indicate that the Westin beach is not that great. I know Caneel and Trunk and several others are great beaches but there is nothing wrong with the Westin Beach. It's clean and has all of the amenities needed as Westin guests. I would go back there in a heart beat !!

I think my whole thing with the Westin beach is that there are so many excellent beaches on St. John and it's just so-so. It's manmade. If I wanted to spend a week on a manmade beach, I'd save a few grand and head over to Nashville Shores.

But everything in paradise is good. I like paradise.

We've stayed at the Westin a number of times and have had all kinds of accomodations - hotel rooms, hillside villas and, most recently, the bay vista villas.

We really like the Westin, overall. If you are on the hillside, you have a smaller pool right next to your building, which is hardly ever used and you have the bigger pool down by the beach which is very nice and has the added benefit of having the bar right next to it.

We would always rent a car. Our general game plan was breakfast at the villa and then head out to beaches in the morning. We would alternate between packing lunches and going to Skinnys, etc. for lunch. Then, we'd head back to the Westin for the later afternoon to do some limin by the Pool. For us, it was the best of all worlds.

There is also an O'Connor car rental place on premises. What we've heard a number of people would do would be to simply check in the morning to see if they had cars available for the day. if they did, great - they'd hit the beaches. if not, they'd hang by the pool and try the next day.

Also, you can park right by the villa on the hillside. If you have the bayview villas, you need to park in the parking lot and walk a bit.

While we might go the non-Westin villa route next time, the Westin is certainly a great place to stay. Plus, if you sign up for a timeshare tour, you'll get up to a $200 credit for use at practically any restaurant in town. Totally worth it.
