Yesterday... a screen capture from the Bahia Honda underwater webcam installed by Teens4Oceans. I have enhanced the color and brightness of the photo. Several (?) sharks swam by before I caught this one. Today, I have seen (?) sharks swimming on the Dry Tortugas webcam.

My Flip4Mac is the basic free download, and I am guessing that there is much better viewing available... if I knew how to adjust the settings.

Shudder.... Whaddya think this is, Iprof? Without a second dorsal fin?

Nice capture, Iprof. I can't see the footage on my Mac without a plug-in and am too lazy to do anything about it. Sorry to hear about them losing the camera at Lameshur. St. John seems to have been getting quite a few thunder squalls lately.

Minde, the fish looks like a large Tarpon... so no shudder necessary.

@Pickle... apparently they did have some type of lightening protection that did not work as designed.

Tarpon it appears to be... thanks!

Some web captures from the Teens4Oceans FB Group page...

copy and paste the link - not a direct link

(I am not sure that you can view this if you are not signed into FB.)

The latest post on that page (I borrowed) from the same webcam... Bahia Honda

Iprof, thank you for the link. Didn't realize they have a page on FB, and yes, you have to be logged in to be able to see the photos. Just by looking at those photos, Bahia Cam looks to have the best setting. They got some great shots with that camera.

For Mac people: Here's what I've been doing, and it works fine.

Go to the page for the webcam you're trying to view. Control+click on the frozen webcam image, and select the 'Save As Source' option. Save the .asx file to your desktop (or wherever). Open that .asx file (which will open QuickTime), wait for the bar to load a bit, and press play.

Et violá -- fish!

Next time you want to watch the cam, all you have to do is open the .asx file saved to your desktop -- no need to go through all the other steps.

lark22... thank you! That works great for the Mac!

Edited 7/20/2010 to add this example of what I am now seeing with no photo enhancement at all ....

Yes, I have sent a donation to this group because I would love to see the VIERS underwater webcam running again.

We sent in a donation as well, and received a hand-written thank you note today. That was really nice!

Me too, Minde -- what a beautiful note, with a little hand-painted fish on the front! I may just donate more because I loved the note so much :)
