Allow me to offer this...I can't see them getting a whole heck of a lot of business to open new accounts (the usual aim of one of those tents (think minor league baseball game)) when a good majority of people coming past them are tourists.
"Oh look, hon! A tent from a local bank. It sure is good that I cashed out our Wachovia account before we went on vacation and had all of our assets liquidated and it SURE is a good thing I packed all of our cash into this here bag. Because I can get 2% interest for the first 6 months of my new Scotia Bank checking account! What a world we live in!"
I mean...really?
/Yes...I am sure that Scotia Bank exists elsewhere and not just on St John, but to use such logic would render my unfunny comments even unfunnier.

What's sad is that I visited Pia at the Info Booth today, and didn't even *see* the dang tent!!!
Or maybe I just have my priorities straight....!

Today while at work I kept up with the tent-raising knowing that when I got home and logged on here I would know exactly why that tent was put up. You people don't disappoint!

For my age I have incredible eyesight....
Friends are buidling a new house with a pool on STJ and have been sending timely reports by Face Book. Maybe a new webcam located there can be arranged....
Sorry for going off track a bit! Back to the dock now - no tent so far today.

Memo to Ruth:
I sense a opportunity here.
If we are pathetic enough to be excited by the erection of a tent on a dock by watching a snapshot every 15 seconds, imagine the potential of a live video feed for a small monthly fee of course. The human drama that would unfold before our eager eyes, the celebrities, dark and stormy nights, hurricanes! Instead of slaving away for the mothership all day everyday, we could indulge our fantasies by watching life go by on the Dock.
Then again I'm no expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night
