Hmm...For atmosphere ZoZo's, but for food I'd say La Plancha del Mar. Nothing bad at all about the food we had at ZoZo's, but we thought La Plancha was better.

I also enjoyed LaTapa...wife not as much...but I'd say it's not a steak type joint.

Thank you all for your replies. We plan on eating out just 3 nights so well have some fun debating all of your suggestions. Beats the heck out of relying on guidebooks.

I throw a new one in, The Dog House which is the new spot upstairs at Crazy Cracker's. Went there last week and thought the food was great and the prices were fantastic. 4 of us ate, 2 with steak, 2 with seafood, and plenty of drinks and the bill was $107. I had a filet mignon and was very impressed with the whole meal. It's a casual fun kind of place.

I also really love La Tapa and La Plancha del Mar. La Tapa has a nicer atmosphere, but the food at both places is top notch. La Tapa also has a fantastic wine selection as well.

try the Cruz Prime Steak House at the Westin. Steaks were awesome! Little pricey but worth it!

Another vote for The Dog House. We ate there twice and it was excellent. The service was great. The prices are even better. Try it you won't be disappointed.

My opinion is that it does not get any better than La Plancha del Mar on Friday night.

We never miss an opportunity to eat at Rhumblines!! We had a great meal there Monday night, and plan to return before our vacation ends on Saturday.

Several suggesting ZoZo's. So, while I was googling to find out where its located, I found this list on the Gallows Point web site. A nice collection of names, types and location of STJ restaurants. (I'm probably the last on the forum to find this!!)

We plan to eat at La Plancha del Mar this trip. I've heard great things about it for a while now. For my recommendation, I am typically a voice in the wilderness because of all the ZoZo's fans here. We love Asolare. It had some issues recently because of poor management. But it is back according to Frank Barnako's website and we will be there next week. Here is the write up http://barnako.typepad.com/news_of_st_j ... nched.html

Zozo's is very good, but too heavy for me. And I didn't enjoy the view to the Gallows Point condos.

Best steak hands down was the ribeye at Zozo's.
