We brought meat and they opened the bag and checked it. It must be frozen solid. If thawed or slighty "squishy" they'll take it...(this directly from our bag inspector). We left home at 5:00 Wed. with our bag of frozen meat and a few blocks of cheese. Got to our villa at 3:00 Thurs. and our meat was still frozen. Polar Bear Cooler and Techni-Ice..

Soft sided cooler and techni-ice is the way to go! We use a foodsaver to pack our meat (some already spiced and marinated) and then freeze solid. We also throw in few bags of frozen veggies and fruits for frozen drinks. Our travel day is 12 hours and we have never had a culinary casualty. We get to reuse the techni-ice for keeping our stuff cold at the beach and then afterwards, it all folds up nicely in our suitcase.

I agree with Connie-- buy produce items on island. Don't bring it.

As far as what you SHOULD bring, your best bets for better quality for the price will be meats, spices and things like balsamic vinegar (if you use it).

We also bring things like powdered gatorade, cold brew iced tea, equal etc. because it doesn't weigh a lot and would be more expensive to buy on island.

Ok-what is techni-ice and where do I find it? Is it a freezer pack? Thanks for the help!
