Thanks, SJ. As a self-professed lagart that has never had a laptop, and only had a cell phone several years ago for a short time, the iPad seems to be calling to me. I was very curious as to the wi-fi working on STJ. I'm impressed with your feedback, especially in that regard. I know that you stay at the Westin, which I assume has wi-fi available, but did you take it over to the Coral Bay side at all? From what you are saying I would probably get the net, sans 3G, most places in a suburban metro area stateside, too.

SJ, Again, thanks for the information. Hope you had a great trip. I also have xm sat radio in the car & house, also have Pandora and internet radio streaming wi-fi through the house stereo via a Logitech Squeezebox. Love it! Listening to music is a passion of mine.
Anyway, I think I'll take your advice and stop in and play with an iPad at the apple store this week.

You guys wouldn't understand that. Or why cars need lots of cup holders.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Ipad!! I have had it for just over 48 hours. I have synced my pictures, calendar, and music from my computer. It was very easy. I also got one of those photo stands to set it in while I have the photos slideshow--kinda like one of those digital photo frames (I never had one).

I have read both nights with it--no nightlight required (: I can dial in how bright I want it.

In addition to the movies from ITunes I have a netflix subscription. I have downloaded a couple of documentaries.

For those with the IPAD what applications have you gotten?

This is what I got and really recommend:

free application of yellowpages.
purchased pages (love it) for $9.99
$1 application of weather hd (cool!)
free application of netflix
free kindle application
$1 application calculator

I am so glad that I got it. I am going to carry it with me and bring it to work. I have added most of my contacts, I have my calendar, will do a photo slide show from my desk, can listen to music,

additional for travel or being away from home and work:

I can watch a movie, use the gps, check my email, read tripadvisor (: and catch up here!!

Why can't I use gogo on the plane with iPad ? I do it on my laptop all the time when I fly but I do have to pay gogo. Are you just meaning free service isn't available? I'm confused! It doesn't take much to confuse me where computers are concerned!

I am assuming that if you receive a word document via email, you can open it on the iPad, just as you can on the iPhone?
