Thanks for the pictures-really enjoy old San Juan-love the old forts and that cemetery by the sea. We'll be down there shortly-pictures gave me a warm weather boost while I'm looking outside at a foot & 1/2 of snow! :)

Cartegena, Columbia is the sister city to San Juan. Built at the same time by the Spaniards.

Stayed at the Condado for a site visit and for the PR event that summer. Surfed La Ocho when it was breaking 18' - 20'. The first break was way out to the left of the rock.

Great guard house, same architecture as on El Morro. I like your cam also, that's one I hadn't seen!

Ditto the recommendation for the Water Club. Also there is a Marriott Courtyard in Isla Verde that is fairly reasonable, and it is next door to the Ritz.

We have stayed at the San Juan Marriott/Stellaris Casino once and twice at the Hilton Caribe - both have nice pool areas but not so great beaches. For one night, I would chose a smaller boutique place as the Water Club which has been on my "maybe next time" list for a while.

Toni mentioned the cemetery by the sea

Another fort very nearby, Castillo de San Cristobal, is the largest fortification built by the Spanish in the New World and finished in 1783. A guardhouse there
