August is my favorite restaurant right now. We usually end up there on my birthday; although, this year we went to Bayona cuz we had just gone to August for something else. John Besh is awesome. He has a new restaurant, Domenica
http://www.domenicarestaurant.com/ in the Roosevelt Hotel that is supposedly really good, but we haven't tried it yet. Luke is a little less fancy, but we much prefer August. Oh, and we were glad Besh didn't win the Iron Chef cuz we didn't want to lose him here.
I like that site just and the fact that it lists restaurants by neighborhood also. I always refer to it when trying to decide where to go when we want to go somewhere different.

Stayed twice at the Monteleone in the Quarter and once at the Fairmont (now back to thr Roosevelt) Both great the Carosel lounge in th Monteleone is outstanding. Going again in May and staying at the Dauphine. Can't wait it's been 16 years.
Please let us know how you like the Dauphine...we have a "Superior Patio King" room booked. Heck, a little NO trip report would be great, too.
Thanks!
We have a balcony room over Dauphine st and my brother has a room in the carriage house. I will be happy to write up a report. This will be my wifes first time along with my brother and his wife.
Bumping this thread up and hoping for a little fresh information and/or trip report from Eric.
Aside from eating and drinking all day and night, what kind of interesting excursions should we consider? Should we rent a car for a day and see something?
Thanks for any help.

Marcia we stayed at The Dauphine and loved it! We originally had a room in the main building with a streetfront shared balcony. We asked to move, which we did to a one bedroom suite in the carriage house. It was extra $, but worth it to us.
Maybe someone will pipe in with the name of the place we had breakfast at this past Jazz Fest. My sister and her husband did a riverboat cruise and loved it. I would think a rental car one day to head out to the plantations, or just to explore the area, would be a good idea.
Excited for you and your trip!!

Jan, what is this riverboat cruise of which you speak? And, I know you know lodgings.

We always seem to follow in your footsteps for great places to stay.

Marcia, I'm not sure about the Riverboat Cruise. Can probably find out when you get there. They did a daytime cruise and liked it so much they did a sunset, jazz kind of cruise another night!
We do know lodging
:) Hope you enjoy the Dauphine! Don't forget your bathing suits, the pool is heated.....I think
