I'm pleasantly surprised. I got to this thread from your cross-reference link on the main forum. I expected it would be kind of bloody or at least nasty, but it's gone in a very different direction. Perhaps humor and civility are making a comeback here.
Actually, I think it's fascinating that so many posters approached it as a "stand alone" post, not in the context of the other post , and responded to it as such. There's a certain appealing innocence to that. Reminds me of when the Irish gave the bagpipe to the Scots and the Scots took it seriously. Charming.

Lex,
You didn't really believe that any involved would actually bring it over here did you? That kind of defeats the purpose of being childish in public.

What did I miss? Could you enlighten me as to the whereabouts of the cross-reference?

Eventually, they quit asking the question!

Travl John, I use the exact stragegy when they ask me which one I love the most. Works like a charm.

Ha! This is pretty funny. Maybe in addition to “he/she started it!” you need to add “who me?” and “the ______ made me do it!” Having said that, I also have to remind myself not to exacerbate or enable childish behavior in public. Such behavior is best dealt with in private.

This is too funny! "What are you looking at I didn't do anything." Did too - Did not and so on and so on. You both are going to your rooms if you keep it up. I am sure it will be starting very soon again as one is outside in the cold playing hockey and the other playing video games - so enjoying the peace and quiet for a little bit.

I find the sound of belt leather being pulled out through belt loops can stop this kind of behavior rather briskly. I like the feel of leather against bare skin - my leather, your skin.
Ever wonder why some of us are participating less?

Just remembering the threat of "the white belt" sends back 40 year old memories like they were yesterday. Once when I was 5 was enough for me to "be good" for the rest of my life.
Say what you want...that ass beating was the best thing that ever happened to me...
Thanks for the memories!
All the best.

Oh man, the belt coming out of the belt loops, that brought back memories. Was never hit with it, but the sound of it snapping made me understand.
Dad used to also pull the "just feel the palm of this hand" trick. Although he never ever used the palm of his hand on me, just touching it made the point.
My hubby's was, "if I hear that bedroom door slam one more time, it's coming off the hindges." We have two girls.

The doors did come off once and stayed off for a couple of weeks and that was the end of slamming doors.
P.S. The emoticons are for Lex! Cheers buddy~

Too funny! I was familiar with the belt but the best was the kids across the street would have to bring a belt from their father's closet.
"Hmmn, which one is least likely to break skin.."
Talk about a long walk

The memory of being chased by the "yard stick" comes to mind. Thankfully I never found out what the yard stick was capable of doing!! Maybe some other mothers should have chased their children with the "yard stick"

I remember going out to the back yard to pick a switch. Strip the leaves off and bring it back in for the thrashing. We always tried to find the youngest, most spindly ones from the bush. Nothing like a personalized switch to set you straight! Then we got older and started giving our grandmother a run for her money...all over the house, downstairs through the dining room, up the stairs and over the beds. She didn't catch us but when our grandfather came home......he picked the switch! Guess that would be child abuse now
