When DH had his office down there we learned this: put some insulation/sound proofing in those office walls! (There will be days when the kids have no school and you have calls to make.)

When we moved here almost 5 years ago and I started working from home, it took some getting used to. The child, then 3, would run into the office at times and holler to no one in particular "QUIET! DADDY'S ON THE PHONE!".
When I'd have the phone on speaker, people would be amused by that.
Plumbers are here today to rough in the bathroom. And, we think the attic hatch is getting cut soon.

We're basically done. Under the timeframe of the schedule and somewhat over budget. More than we'd hoped to spend, but not so much more that we're crying. We did end up with several upgrades like a whole new electrical system in the basement, a new network hub and new cable and phone lines run throughout the whole house.
We're pleased.

Great job Pip! I bet it feels good to have that done. The floor is great.
We have a few mini projects that I want to get done soon. One is to change a regular showerhead in our basement shower to a handheld so that we can bathe the dog down there. (The dog park is very muddy these days.)
We've been giving him baths in our mudroom sink, which is a fairly large laundry sink. But when I lifted his 50-some pounds in there yesterday he barely fit. He gave me this look like, "Your kidding, right? Right?!?" I swear he learned that look from my kids.
I'd like to say that my next project is something grand and glamorous, but no. I'm just trying to come up with a way to make the dog stop looking at me the way my kids do.

The amusing part now is that we're going away next week and then the following week, I'm away for work. I can't even move in for another few weeks!

It looks really nice. I especially like the brick wall and the flooring in the family room.
