Leaving...

We board our pooch when we go, too. FOR TWO PLUS WEEKS. It's definitely the worst part of leaving town (harder than leaving the kids LOL). However, the little guy seems to come around and like us again a few days after we return.

I have two dogs, and one, a papillion, can not be boarded. He has such seperation anxiety we either have to get a "sitter" who lives in our house while we're gone or get my mom to stay with him. Even then, he sits by the front door the entire time I'm gone, and stares out the glass doors until I get home. It really makes leaving hard. Our vet said if I boarded him he may not survive a week. I've never had a dog so attached to me. He follows me in and out of every room and watches me do things no one else has seen.

I'm never by myself if I'm at home. Jonesie is always nearby. He really knows how to put me on a guilt trip.

Definitely leaving...a two-way wrench for me, leaving beautiful STJ and leaving my beautiful daughter who gets to stay!

I agree with TrvlJohn -- leaving SUCKS.
But as for the pups-- that's always rough. We're lucky though, if we can't get somone to stay with them then we board ours here:

That's the worst for me too when it comes to leave for any vacation. We've been lucky in the past to just have a family member come over and stay at our house while we were gone. This next trip down to the Islands we will have to board them.

I did lots of homework and found a great place with good references from a few people at the puppy park we go to. I'm still going to worry about my girls but I know they will be having a blast while I'm off doing nothing (a.k.a laying on a beach with a rum cocktail in hand)
