All I can say: Labs rule!!! I grew up w/labs and have an almost 10 y.o. yellow female ... who is the light of our lives! Labs are very frisky/active young dogs ... our dog didn't start calming down until after her 3rd birthday. Every day is a gift w/our girl ... she had mast cell tumors removed a couple yrs. ago and she recently was diagnosed w/laryngeal paralysis. But she wakes up every day w/smiles and wags for her mama and daddy!!!

Congratulations!

Kudos to the rescue! These little girls will help fill the hole in your heart from losing your boys. I swear dogs are emotional healers.

That's so fun for you! And for the doggies who found their forever home!

My husband and I work in the doggy world and foster occasionally. We just recently placed two red pomeranians in their forever home. I miss them- Ginger & Bear.

If anyone is interested, we just got news of a client needing to find a home for their 8 month old Bloodhound. Bloodhounds are not easy dogs and the family recently had a tragic family accident that is taking up most of their time. Their dog needs attention that they can't give right now.

So, Bloodhound anyone?

We are in Southern NH, Northern MA area.

Our Lager had LP also...it's exacerbated by heat and the week he died he was so hot that it was really bothering him. I wish you many more happy years with your girl.

silverheels, we actually find that it's easier to have two v. one. They tire each other out and keep each other company and we feel less guilty when we can't bring them with us.

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes - such a happy Christmas for us :)

Congrats on the new addition to the family! I’m sure the girls will be great sisters! I've recently added another rescued shepherd to the family a few months back. She is a real handful still at 6 months. She sounds a lot like your Bella…very mouthy and jumpy, but wouldn’t change her for the world! A few yrs back I lost my dog at the great age of 15yrs old. Wasn’t sure when I would be ready for another dog but I’ve always said… when the time was right they will walk into my life. Sure enough, a few months later I rescued a shepherd. She was my only child for two years before my new addition. Took only hours before they became the best of friends. Now I have double the energy in the house to keep me on my toes! My dilemma now is I want to plan a trip to STJ in March but I would feel so guilty leaving them.
