I rechecked and I see you did win 1st place in scenic photos. I didn't realize at first that they broke them into categories. Yeah for you. Was there a prize involved?

I actually won first prize in the nature category.
And yes, I won a prize--two round trip tickets on Air Jamaica and a two-year subscription to the magazine. We are going to have to go to NYC to use the tix because Air Jamaica doesn't fly out of Boston, but that's OK.

I'm expecting some great pics of Jamaica. Is the snorkeling there any good? We did a Sandals years ago and didn't snorkel at all, but what a week long hangover.

Where in Jamaica are you going? It's a big island compared to STJ.

Cypressgirl, I don't know anything about the snorkeling in Jamaica. I have not started serious research yet. John's aunt used to live there but she has nothing but bad things to say about the island...of course that is true for pretty much every other topic she talks about too.
We are going to stay in Negril, but definitely not at an AI. I'll report back, but we are not going for a while. We already had planned a Florida trip and a St. John trip before I won this contest.

Liamsaunt - did you do any enhancement/photoshopping of the picture? the colors are unbelievable...

Hi Sunflower, no I did not color enhance the photo. The octopus really was blue. It was moving across the top of a rock cropping in very shallow water--I'm not sure exactly how deep but definitely less than 5 feet--and the sun was out, which is why it is so clear.
