Just throwing in random .02 on the underwater camera question.... I have the Canon D-10 as well and have already had to send it back to the manufacturer for repairs. It broke on the first day of my STJ trip!! Boo. 
Thankfully, I had my old Olympus underwater as a back up. Based on that experience (and a couple of other reasons) I would buy a new Olympus instead of switching to the Canon if I had the choice to make again.
