I'm feeling quite fortunate after reading some of your horror stories....mine seem pale by comparison
On our first trip to Hawaii we were grounded on the tarmac for about 3 hours, not really sure exactly how long though; cuz after the first hour, I started popping valium  (aka "SJfromNJ's magic pills") We were finally deplaned and had to take a flight out the next morning....causing us to miss our first night on Kauai :( :x
Second incident not all that bad....Husband dropped luggage and me off at the Maui airport for our red eye flight to SFO, before turning in the car. Lo and behold....the flight had been cancelled. So we were forced to spend another night in Maui on United's quarter. 8) 8) 8)
And then there was the time when he volunteered the five of us to get bumped when leaving Maui....three of the five were three very tired children....one of the five was an extremely PO'd wife. We did end up getting 5 round trip tickets....I'm still not convinced it was worth it  ...mia

We sat on the tarmac in Newark last month for over three hours on a flight to Ft. Meyers. That was longer than the actual flight. We got in around 2:00 a.m., and fortunately the car rental (Hertz and the others) waited for us. We were on our way to Sanibel. Was very, very happy to finally reach Sanibel around 4:00 a.m!
