For those of you who love Francis, what exactly about it do you love?

My husband and I haven't visited Francis for a couple years, as we weren't very impressed the last time we were there and haven't been back since.

When we were there, the sand wasn't very nice and the snorkeling was only ok.

Just curious, as we may have to give it another shot

Francis is easy to get to, close enough to Coral Bay for a lunch run, has a lot of space in which to spread out, close to Maho Bay Camground for happy hour, good snorkeling to the West at the point between Little Maho and Maho Bay, flat for the runners to Annaberg and back, gentle beach for the little ones, shade, picnic tables, grills, big honking turtle, toilets, trash cans...

I will go with Honeymoon & Salomon. Right or left at the Y on the Lind Point Trail and you come upon a beautiful beach.

We like Francis because it has never been crowded when we are there. We like to walk all the way down to the far right and we usually have that space plus 100 feet to the left to ourselves. The sand is smooth and fine, and Rick G is right about the "big honking turtle." He is out there by the boat moorings every trip. Lots of shade, the occasional donkey, the views of Mary Point and over to Cinnamon...it just feels really peaceful to us.

Francis and Maho! Gotta love the convenience of being so close to the car at Maho!

Although we were impressed by Francis years ago, it has come off our must-go list also. The last couple trips the water has been cloudy and Francis is the only place where we have experienced a bug (no-see-um) problem.

Had to reply "other", since my fav is Francis!

Yeah, Francis sucks! I don't know why anybody would want to go there. I mean there's no "yellow jackets" from the cruise ships, few crowds, too easy of a walk, sting rays and turtles to "ruin" your swim, octopus along the right wall, a few picnic tables, shade if you object to the bright sun, turquoise water everywhere, a virtually unused nature trail around a salt pond, an occasional bunch of locals with the nerve to enjoy the tourists' beach, and it has a sensational panoramic view [other then the horrific monstrasities that they built on Peter Bay]. Jeez, I think everybody should definitely avoid that place.

But - agree with others - don't know if I want to "share" our favorites. But, this is a good step towards not "being selfish & greedy"!

ya mon mahobabe. i second that emotion. there is some kind of magic at MAHO BAY that got us hooked forever. what are ever going to do? this will be our 7th trip (i hope) if hubbie gets his butt moving!
