I have the problem of loving a wine on one day, and the next time I try it, I don't like it as well. I figured it's just me, but maybe every bottle is not the same. I usually by in the 10.-14. range, but I have to say, for really cheap, I do like Barefoot Chard.

djmom, have you tried rose? Not white zinfandel--rose from France. It is not overly sweet, and goes well with summery foods. Tavel is one brand we buy.

Beaujolais is another inexpensive summery wine. NOT beaujolais noveau. Try one of the specific grapes rather than the villages blend. I like brouilly. Fleurie is good too.

Another thought--some sparkling wines are in that range that are pretty good. I am thinking of Domaine St. Michelle from Washington off the top of my head.

Our house white is a French sancerre that goes for about $18/bottle, but we get 20% off that price because we buy by the case. Check and see if your retailer offers case discounts--it might bring some wines into your budget that you would not have otherwise considered. You just need to have a place to store it.

I'll ask John for some ideas also. He knows a lot more about wine than I do.

To all of you, thanks for the info and I hope this thread stays alive for a bit as I think there are many who know a lot about wine on this board...and many like me who need help!

I have a friend/family coming to visit tomorrow am for 5 days, so probably wont be able to check back till Weds. But I do appreciate all of this and again, keep the recommendations coming!

Becky, thanks for the newer ideas too!
