me too!!!!! The luxury of getting out for a few hours would be GRAND....and for the 6 trips previous to this one....we haven't done it...but my kids are "older" than needy infants and I'd feel more comfortable leaving them for a bit.
Oh....we've never been out late in st john even before kids...LOL...too much sun tires us out...but we have definitely had our fair share of drinks! LOL.....and some hangovers!
Polly and Sadie Sea......I might take you up on it....and yes Polly...I would think that would be a GREAT side job. I'd gladly pay 20 bucks an hour......

We brought our 2 year old to St. John in February and had a babysitter 3 times.
We stayed at the Westin and booked the babysitter through there. The two people we used (Erin and Hilear) were great - they worked at the kids club so had a lot of experience with children.
If the other suggestions you got from here don't pan out, you could definitely swing by the pool at the Westin one morning and see if someone is available. Erin was/is the Supervisor there and is usually there in the mornings.

As an expectant parent myself, we are discussing how to handle childcare on our upcoming trips. Like everyone else, we will just want a few free nights during our trip to feel like adults, and maybe a 4-hour block during one day to rent a dinghy.
For those of you on-island like Polly, I think it is an excellent business idea to start a babysitting service with teachers or other such trustworthy people. I'd certainly use you. There is really no overhead, it's a service-based business and the market is pretty limitless since St. John is a popular family destination.
We plan to bring our oldest niece as a babysitter on our first trip (with an infant), but after that I'd prefer to use someone on-island.

It's been 10 years, but I called the Westin activities desk and got a sitter. It was more trouble than it was worth for us, since I had to pickup the sitter and drop her off. The kids enjoyed it, but I spent as much time driving about.
Cheers, RickG

If you are in need of sitters - send me a pm and I can help you out. I know several teachers (myself included) who would be glad to provide sitting services and they are very reliable!
