Hawaii,I don't know your story, but I personally wouldn't call Cruz Bay busy by any stretch of the imagination, esp if you've been to Hawaii and your comparing or if you live in Hawaii currently and want to vacation in STJ. Your going in the off season of July so it's already gonna be a lot quieter where-ever on STJ you end up.

Do remember that until July 4th it is Festival in STJ and Cruz Bay will be very busy but after that it does quieten down alot.

rebelbeachgirl - Thanks for that great site.

Pia - Thanks - We will come sometime after the 4th.

Berlingirl - Never been to Hawaii just use that name as my son picked it becuase he wanted to go there. Too long of a plane ride for me. Our reason for looking at the Coral Bay side is that it just seems to fit our family with a more quiet side of the Island. I am sure we will also be visiting Cruz Bay area also for a day or so.

Check out Villa Madeline too (the one we reserved) Two bedrooms with pool and hot tub. Bedrooms are on the lower deck. The only problem would be they are both queens and I don't know if your kids would want to share a bed. Some villas have twins that can be pushed together to make a king or left separate. We're paying $1750/wk. total.
We have to have air in the bedroom (it drowns out the Coral Bay roosters at 4 AM). This house has central-air if gets really hot but that's doubtful because there's usually a breeze.

I second Villa Madeline - we stayed there in May - easy drive - just past Skinny's - great pool deck with hot tub, BBQ, sink and shower. A/C in All rooms.
Fantastic Price!!
I can post pics if anyone is interested.

We liked working with Chris, the owner, so much that we rented his other house Siempre Azul(only 1 BR) for December.

If you can manage w/o A/C - I would also recommend Waterlemon Villa - 3 BRs, all accessed indoors, great screened-in porch, beautiful view and nice breezes with pool. I is very affordable also. I can provide pics of this villa as well.
