That was fun. Thanks. I really like the photo of the iguana mid-stride with the breaking wave behind him/her...very cool.

Thank you to all who read and commented on my trip report. Here's the thing... even if you think you visited during a terrible weather/mosquito period, writing your trip report and checking out all your pictures reminds you that there are many more positives than negatives to any trip to STJ!

I really enjoyed reading your report! I don't think I could handle camping at Cinnamon Bay. I cringe when I use their showers just to rinse off. That water is COLD!

Your Jost pictures are especially beautiful.

Great report. Quite an effort you put forth. I also am not so hardy and wouldn't make a very good camper personally. Being a mosquito magnet like I am (even in the midst of a STJ dry spell I come home with a min of 10 bites that hang around for weeks) I wouldn't last an evening there! I can take cold showers no problem, but living here in New England I get into heat stroke territory when the weather hits 80's and the no A/C at night wouldn't work either. I felt for a couple of the girls...one missing her baby and the other missing her pet and worried about work. It must've been a job for them to even make the trip! Glad they had a few days of beauty. Thanks for sharing your journey. :D

Lovermont, great photos and TR! We were on island the same time as you and we did see your PK at the Soggy Dollar but left it for someone else as Californiagirl had left us one in name.

I found out on this trip that my 13 year old lab has cancer so I could have commiserated with Caleb's mom. It was on my mind constantly but I pushed it back and enjoyed my time there. We go to see the vet today to see what/if there is anything we can do to make him more comfortable.

Sorry we missed meeting you at the Beach Bar - our group actually ended up at the High Tide for one drink :)

What an awesome report, Lovermont! It was great to meet you. Looks like you had a great time and were able to go with the flow when plans changed.
I wish we'd been able to meet Vie. Her daughter was working, the days we were there. Her conch fritters were Blaine's favorite island food. Everytime I mentioned food, he said "Vies?"

Fantastic TR! Sorry you had some "challenges" but it sounds like you still enjoyed!.

Tequila shots and dancing on the beach is the WAY it used to be done back in the day.

Nancy_B,
I hope your dog is fairing well, and you're enjoying your time with him.
I just had word from Mom-o-Caleb that her beautiful dog passed away. Here's a photo I snapped of him when I stopped by his house to hang with him last Thursday. It was a pleasure to wipe the drool of off the knucklehead. I'm glad I've got this picture. He was a sweetie!

RIP Caleb!

I'm so sorry to hear about Caleb! I'm very sad for your friend. He was a very handsome boy.

Lager is doing fine right now - well, as fine as a 13 year old lumpy, bumpy lab with lower back problems, a front gimpy left paw and also an issue with his breathing. We love him and he's still eating like a champ. We'll see what the vet says tonight.

Here's Lager in February:

Damn it's been rough for the forumite puppies this month.

Hard to belive that it was just two weeks ago today that we had to let our Duffy go.

Rough day.

Hope your pup Lager gets better and I'm so sorry to hear about Caleb.

Thanks, Lovermont!

Gromit, I'm so sorry about Duffy - I was on island when it happened and didn't know. I hope you're doing okay.

Lager won't get better since it's cancer but I'm just hoping that we can keep him comfortable and he can hang in there with us as long as it's okay for him. Sadly, our cat, Maddy died of cancer on April 24th (it was in her lungs and I had to make the decision). So very sad! Lager's Dad, Foster also died of cancer. UGH - it's so cruel. I just love him every day that he is here with us and did the same for Maddy and Foster.

Nancy-- I am SO sorry. I know how hard it is. But you're doing the right thing by keeping him comfortable and loved!
