That is awful! Hoping for a full and speedy recovery for your brother.

I am always telling my daughter to not talk and drive at the same time.

I forbid her to text and drive. They actually just passed a new law here that makes texting and driving illegal.

It's just not worth it and it's scary. Half the people I drive past have a freaking phone glued to their ears while they're blazing down the road!

Jimmy - so sorry to hear about this.

You and your brother will be in our thoughts.

It took me a while, but I finally came to my senses and drive like you do, but it's amazing how much of a minority we seem to be in. Now I have two sons that are both new drivers - the worry never ends.

Keep us posted on your bro's progress and tell him that he has friends that he hasn't even met yet that are in his corner.

Let me start with the unbelievable thanks I have to you all, my forum family.
I just need to clear up the misinterpretation about the cell phone thing; that was just a for instance about how people put themselves & others at risk.
Paul was not on his cell phone.
Until we hear from him, I guess, we won't know the reason behind the accident.
Sorry for the confusion, and, again, I can't thank you all enough for your support.
Smiles-
MJ

Jim, I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. I'll keep him in my prayers. I am very guilty about talking on my cell phone while driving. Sometimes I wonder how in the heck I ever made it home safely. I am going to really try and cut that out.

Wow... Sorry to hear about this. Thoughts and prayers for your brother and your family Jim.

Any update? I sure hope that he is on the road
to a full recovery.

I'm thinking that he had
to have had his seatbelt on to have survived.
Please use a seatbelt everyone...it may just save
your life!

As far as any negative comments regarding this...
who the hell cares what ignorant people may say.

Be strong Paul and lots of positive thoughts are
around you!

Take care,
Kathy

Jimmy, I hope your brother Paul is improving.

That is a nasty stretch of highway!

As you know talking ,texting, using cell phone at all, in NJ is a stopable offense now as it should be. You CAN use a hands free device. I am amazed at how many people ignore the law and have that cell phone glued to their head. A small town close to me sets up watches regularly and rakes in the fees. I hope it continues. There are enuf distractions on the roads.

PLEASE DO NOT USE CELL PHONES WHILE DRIVING!

I know this is all about your brother and NOT phones, I send him the best to a full recovery. Please keep us posted.

Thanks again for your constant prayers.
Paul was taken off of his sedation by his doctors yesterday to see if he was responsive, and the good news is that he was.
But then, somehow, the docs' found out that his heart is bruised, and he went in for another bout with surgery. He may be losing a leg,as well.
I'm not handling this too well, folks. I somehow feel guilty for complaining about this, but honestly, I'm trying to not fall apart.
Thank you all for being there.
Easter never really meant anything to me, now I get to spend it with my Mom & my big bro.
I'm so sorry for complaining, and am equally grateful for your best wishes...
Thanks & always
Smiles-
Jimmy

You have every right to fall apart. We all would. This is just tragic, and you are only being human. Complain all you want. I think most of us at some point in our lives, has had a heartbreaking situation, and it is so helpful to have shoulders to lean on. I'll keep praying for the best possible outcome. Try to have faith in the Great Physician. Miracles do happen.
