Shift happens....

Every time we have gone to Little Cinnamon we have had the beach to ourselves. Park at Cinnamon Bay. Walk on the path through the campground to the farthest left of the beach, past all of the cabins. Go down onto the sand and keep walking for a bit. You'll come to a wire fence. There is an opening in the fence that brings you to a trail. It's about a 5 minute walk to Little Cinnamon. It's a nice sandy beach:

Oh, I forgot to mention, Turtle Bay is not accessible by dinghy. I knew that Caneel does not let anyone beach dinghies, and Hugo pointed out the other day that the reason for that is that there are no dinghy access channels to the Caneel beaches! I never noticed that before (I thought you could approach but not beach).

Liamsaunt, thanks the info on Turtle Bay, and I didn't even know about Little, Cinnamon, so that's a good tip too.

The thing that I like about Maho is that you cannot see any "McMansions" from there. It's all green hills/water/clouds. You feel taken away from all development.

Ahhhhhhhh...to float there is my little piece of heaven.

A short hike but Denis Bay is soft and quiet.
While all these beach people are on thread ------ How do you get to the[ name? ] beach west of Hawksnest and before the Caneel Hawksnest beach by land??
It was accessible by sea before the NPS put swim buoys all the way along the bay extending out many hundreds of feet North.

Exit Zero, you have to walk as far as you can to the left of the beach, and then scramble over the rocks. There is no trail (at least that I know of) between Hawksnest and Little Hawksnest. We only did this once because John hates rock scrambling. He always thinks one of us is going to slip and get hurt. It's awfully pretty over there though!

Given your parameters, Jilld17 is right on. Everything you want and decent snorkeling.

Thanks -- I have been hoping for mention of a trail , maybe from the parking lot area or out in the back near the road. It is pretty!! I agree! - was once one of my favorite sailing stops when the NPS buoy line was much closer to shore and actually used as a swimming area and anchoring was allowed in sand.

To answer the original question, I have always favored Maho as my "favorite" beach for relaxing.

For you Gibney fans, can you help me out by telling me a bit more about Gibney? I am ashamed to admit that after 12-ish visits, I am still a Gibney virgin. On our upcoming visit, we will not be at "my" villa. Yes, we are staying somewhere else. We'll be walking distance to Gibney, so I expect to visit it quite a bit. Can you guys help me out with the logistics? Maybe I am just dense (really, there is no maybe to that....), but each time I have walked down to Gibney with the intention of staying, I get puzzled by where to settle. There never seems to be enough beach. I have always ended up leaving after taking a quick peek and a few photos. Am I going at the wrong time? Am I not looking hard enough to find the sand?

Help a dumb girl, people.

Vicki head left towards Hawksnest to the very end the beach opens up really nice down there. When the tide is up ya will have to most likely walk in the water around the seagrapes to get down there. Heres a pic.
