Thank you everyone. Just received my US Divers Trek short fins from National Geographic. They fit perfectly and look like they are just what I was looking for!
Counting the days, can't wait

From a paipo and kneboard rider:
Churchills are a heavy, stiff fin.
Vipers are too stiff and expensive.
US Divers are excellent for catching waves and for diving, and they have an adjustable heel strap.

OK. just looked at the box and my fins again and they are not US divers Trek's, the are US Divers Shredders.
Can anyone tell me if there is any difference? I purchased them thru National Geographic Store which had the Trek flippers in their on-line photo.

The Trek is a bit shorter and stiffer. I like the flexibility of the Shredder. Both are very short compared to a regular diving fin. The Shredder has an ankle strap so you don't lose your fins when getting ragdolled in big swell.
Short fins are good for quick bursts of speed, or a lazy snorkel. I prefer a longer dive fin when snorkeling. Make sure to keep your fins in the water and your thighs bent at the waist, and rotate your hips. With little effort I can cover a lot of ocean.

Ragdolled in a big swell!. You got the wrong lady!
I can barely swim and need to use a belt.
Which one do you think would work better for me. Should I send back the Shredder and look for the Trek or do you think the Shredder will be OK for an inexperienced snorkeler?

I have a pair of Shredders. They are the best fin in the box.

FYI
Got a response back from my e-mail to US Divers re: the difference between the Trek and the Shredder. He said only difference is the color. Trek is blue and Shredder is red. It didn't look like there was any differencee in the pictures which was what was driving me crazy.
Spoke to Rachel this am and we are set to have her pick us up again, so today, life is good and counting the days!!!

Another fan of the National Geo short fins. All four of us used them for 2 weeks last summer and they were very comfortable, just right for snorkeling. We don't rent but send all the snorkel gear to Connections each year.
