Do you guys need a fantastic, St.-John-lovin' wedding photographer????

Seriously, I think that's such a romantic plan! If we hadn't been goaded into a bigger wedding here in Boston, that would have been just the thing for us.

I think the dinghy is do-able, especially if it can get in fairly close to shore and if her brother & the Captain can help her down.

You folks make me want to break down into tears.
Thank you all so much for your best wishes, and advice.
My first trip to STJ was in November of '01, just passed 9/11.
I fell in love with, how do I put it, how "Island Time" relaxed these tense shoulders of mine.
Simple bewilderment at its' beauty, and the transfixed relaxation that everyone I met there had on their own shoulders.
I recognized how everyone that I walked by/near was so taken by the islands' beauty, and that they couldn't help but to be kind.
To me it was like a " Grown-Up Disney Land", or if you you don't mind me saying, "Fantasy Island".
My Sweet Amy fell in love with it, too.
I was lucky to be the guy to take her there!
I'm hoping that Captain Dan from MYCB can help us out, as I'm sure there are plenty of spots on Big Maho for him to swing in his dinghy. Amy will be well aware of our itinerary,(sort of) and It'll definately be a wedding the likes of which she'd never imagine. Including a sunset sail back with Captain Dan.
I have no idea if he can marry us, and I'll be sure to bug "Bug" for info., as well as Mathayum.
Any other suggestions are gratefully appreciated.
It's so cool, ya' know? I love her, man.
(Don't think she visits the "off-topic forum", and if so, we're in this together, anyway!)
Thanks, and always
Smiles-
MJ

Gromit wrote:Jim-- You are hopeless romantic and I LOVE it.

Gotta say though that I think you need to think the whole dinghy thing through. I have never been able to get out of one of those things without getting wet.

It sounds great in principle but in practicality I'd stick to doing it on a boat OR on the beach but not the combo... unless she really doesn't care.

I am SO happy for you two. STJ is the best place in the world to start your journey through life together!

Mr. Gromit and I got married at home here in VA but spent our Honeymoon on STJ and we're going on 11 years together.

Funny story though about how we met: A friend of mine (and his co-worker) introduced us. We met playing paintball. I was wearing jungle boots, camouflage pants and a Duffy's Love Shack t-shirt. When we were introduced he said" "Nice boots. What's Duffy's?"

I then proceeded to tell him all about Duffy's Love Shack on STT and how I fell in love with STJ. Of course this was while hunkered down and trying not to get shot. Love is a battlefield!

He said that was the moment he fell in love with me. He knew that if I could carry on a conversation about vacationing in the caribbean, look that good in camouflage, cover his ass with return fire that I was the girl for him.

Four months later we were engaged and a year later we were married and having drinks at Duffy's Love Shack on STT where he got his very own Duffy's Love Shack T-Shirt.

The rest is history ;-)
Gourgeous! :D
I have to go to bed...
Why do I miss you all, even though i don't know you personally?

Sounds like a wonderful and romantic plan.

We'll be on island this fall and will be on the lookout for the beautiful bride and the groom with the ear to ear smile.

I think I got the boat and beach name mixed up. I thought you were going into Cinnamon.

I agree, Maho is probably do-able. And her being in on the plan is great.

It is a super romantic idea. I was just a little worried with the possible surprise element.

Surprise! Now swim into shore for your wedding. Jim will be all dry and you will look like a shivering wet rat with sand up your rear.

You guys sound so in love, it is awesome and what a beautiful place to celebrate.

What if I come in on a dinghy from Little Maho, to keep the crowd on its' collective toes?
Hmmm...

Jim- This is an amazing idea and its great to see two people this much in love...There is hope for the world yet! Definitely a positive new storyline for the Forum to follow, after the awful 'political' days. Thanks for sharing your new adventure with us!

Sounds like Capt Dan is the place to start...as he can let you know if he can perform the ceremony and what the dinghy options are for Maho. Ahh...Maho...my favorite place in the world, as well! :D

Gromit- Your story nearly made me LOL and cry at the same time...is that possible..?

I don't know about him making the rest of you guys look bad, but he's sure making mine look bad. Oh to be young, in love, and have enough $$ to go to STJ.........I can't think of anything more perfect. Amy's got a special guy.

My Dear Connie~
I'm sure my Sweet Amy, will love me in a speedo on our wedding day, but I prefer to go nude! I hope Captain Dan doesn't have problem with that! I really hope that he's available. He and his wife Donna are just like a couple of cool drinks in the afternoon, smart, & laid back. Not too many people have cruised with them on this forum, evidently. Weird.
That charter is the genuine article, if you ask me.
Cypress-
It's not about the money, but I think we know what we want! :D :D :D :D
I'm more than excited, everyday, that my sweet Amy looks at STJ the way I do.

MJ You could jump out of the boat and say, "Bond... James Bond..."

Gotta love those Hollywood entrances!
