1. Years ago came from STT from cruise and staying at resorts for day trips....when looking for somewhere for a family vacation, I remember that we always said we'd love to stay there sometime and we rented a villa for a week....go back every year now!
2. I must have found it through google or the Bongo boys site....

1. Floated by STJ on a few BVI visits and my sweetie wanted someting different for our upcoming anniv vacation. Somehow I convinced here that JVD/STJ would be "different" from Tortola and Virgin Gorda. I sill can't believe I pulled that one off.
2. Google = Forums

1. I always wanted to go to STJ from the time I was little and my aunt and uncle went to Caneel on their honeymoon.
2. Ruth initially told me about the AOL forum, then Marcia directed me to this one one day when AOL was dying.

1) About 15 years ago my Ex and I decided to take a tropical vacation. We were looking at St. Thomas when a business associate of mine told me about her niece who lives on St. John. I actually called her Terry and we talked about the differences of the two islands. We picked St. John. Our 2nd day on island, we spent the day getting a tour by her niece and husband. They turned out to be Mr. & Mrs. Provost. Terry still had the Travel Agency at the time and Mr. Provost was still teaching.
2) I started on the "old" forum and came along over here

1)First came in '96 and stayed at Gallow's Point. Since then, Concordia, Sago Cottage, St. John Passion, and on STT Holiday Inn, Green Iguana and the Crystal Palace. I remember reading about the USVI's in a travel magazine and can even remember photocopying maps of the islands and taking them to work to show people where I was going. Hurricane Marilyn had hit in the fall of '95 and many many places still looked in rough shape. I think Gallow's had a photo album of some of the damages. It was really terrible-most noticeably I remember how bad places looked on STT, and we were there 8 months or so after it had passed through. But we caught the bug, and will be back for our 5th trip next month at Casa Blanca and Mafolie Hotel on STT!
2)I research everything (too much my husband says) and I found and joined the old forum at some point. You've always answered my questions!

came down in '86 to get dive certified--stayed at Maho with my then boyfriend--almost ended up sailing to India (not with said boyfriend---oh boy...... that would have been a train wreck in SO many ways!)
found the forum via google and mentions of a mysterious forum on 'the other forum'

1. In 1994, we won a trip from 7-UP Uncola Island contest (really!!!) to St. Thomas, rented a car and did a day trip to STJ, went to Leinster snorkeling and then explored the island as much as we could in 1 day, fell in love and been coming just about every year since!!

My wife's cousin spent quite a bit of time in St. Thomas and St. John. I think his ex-wife still lives on St. Thomas. He told us about St. John. We came in January 2001 for our 8th anniversary and then again in 2008 for our 15th.
Can't remember how I found the Forum. Was probably surfing around and stumbled on it.

1. Back in 1985 while staying on St. Thomas, we took the ferry over and rented a jeep to see the sights...fell in love with the sleepy, untouched quality of St. John...undeveloped, slow paced, tranquility, lush tropical flora...
2. A friend turn us on to the website a couple of years ago so that we could get information for an upcoming trip.

I was about say "that's one smart shrink", but then I realized that he may not be too business savy as one trip to St John may cure alll your woes.

1. I visited St. Thomas several times in the '70's; knew St. John was a ferry ride away, but never made it over. Sometime in the 80's, I read an article in Cosmo about St. John and the Virgin Grand Resort (now the Westin). It sounded like the most romantic place on earth, but I had no romance going on at the time. In '92, AA had a Caribbean FF sale and off we went. We stayed at the Hyatt (now the Westin) and saw nothing beyond Trunk Bay. It was a great vacation.
2. Not sure how I stumbled onto the forum (the old forum). I think it was somewhere between our trips in 2001 and 2003.

1. How did I find St. John?
DH and I were looking to go to Costa Rica for an early December vacation. But, I'm a research freak, and I'd researched the country so much, that I was overwhelmed. I felt that I'd be traveling every day to get to all the places that I wanted to visit. Enter STJ! It seemed like a place that I could have an adventure, but I wouldn't be traveling every day, living out of a suitcase.
2. How did I find the forum?
I've spent a lot of time on Tripadvisor, and enough of you kept referencing "the other site/forum". It took awhile for me to find it, but now I'm a full-fledged lurker.
I'm planning my next trip in May and will be bringing three newbie girlfriends, so I'm spending a fair amount of time on the forum picking up ideas for that trip.
