Have you guys thought about the Turk & Caico's. Provo is laid back like St. John and Grace bay is a beautiful beach with crystal clear water. I never went but the Provo golf course is rated in the top ten in the caribbean.

We have been to Provo twice, once for vacation and once for work/vacation. I have tons of pictures and info.

The golf course is very nice and we had a good evening of drinks and dinner at the club house.

My quick observations on Provo:

Lots of really great dining options from super casual to upscale.

So easy to get to from the east coast. Airport to any accomodation in under 30 minutes.

Grace Bay Beach - long and stunning

Island residents seem to like tourists

Lots of beachfront accomodations from independent hotels, houses, condos, resorts

Booming construction in some sections of the beach

We stayed at two different places.

This is a compound of houses right on the beach and close to lots of restaurants. Awesome owners, they keep everything perfect -

it was funky, interesting, charming in a way and unique. Close to the beach, about a 30 second walk. There were some things I wasn't crazy about that I can PM you about if interested.

The neighborhood was very quiet as was the beach.

There are so many condo/resort type places right on the beach. All look very nice. Some that stick out in my memory - Coral Gardens, Ocean Club (and the related resort) The Sands.

We ate dinner at many of the condo/resort restaurants so if you find any that interest you, let me know and I can tell you what I know.

We booked a last minute special at a place called "Sibonne' " very low key and basic but very quiet. The place next to us was the "The Sands at Grace Bay" very nice resort/ condo with a great restaurant called Hemingway's. Thet also have a Club Med & Beaches if your into alot of activities.

We had brunch at Sibonne. It was lovely. It must be popular because it was booked in June.

It was a last minute special to just go and chill for a couple day in July. The lunch at Sibonne' was very good but we ate dinner at Hemingway's twice and another restaurant who's name I can't remember. If your a laid back St. John veteran, Sibonne' fits the bill but I try not to recommend "average" accommadation since it's different strokes for different folks. The Sands was a much nicer resort but you pay for that and that's never been important to me as a traveler. Sibonne'(Sib bon ney) was VERY basic but clean and everything worked so that's all I need and Grace Bay is awesome

Brunch was lovely, as was the setting. I didn't see any of the rooms.

The setting and atmosphere were great, the restaurant was very good but the room were as I said basic; bathroom, two double beds,dresser with TV, mini fridge and a small table (motel 6). I was on the first floor so I kinda had a garden view. The second floor had a oceanview from each room. It well worth it for $1100 including round trip air

Sanibel Island is great and so is Captiva!

Before we found STT, we would go every year for about 10 years.

We've brought many people there and they all love it.

Seashell capital of the world, and I'm not kidding.

There are no high rises and you can ride your bike basically everywhere with the great bike paths they have. Good restaurants and laid back restaurants. One main road (Periwinkle that cuts right through the Island).

Gorgeous sunsets and just a really nice place to go. Convenient too.

Be prepared though! I think Florida is hitting the 30s tonight, so you can't really count on the weather even there.

I love the Keys too.

I know! Every time I've been to Florida I seem to get the cold weather....

Now we're leaning toward Exuma. My husband is being wishy washy and I'm not much better.

I think VickiH has travelled around the Out Islands.

I decided to book Turks and Caicos; thank you, everyone, for your help. I also now have a nice list of other options to try!
