Hangalen, thanks for the tips and heads-up.....as an annual visitor I really appreciate it. I have a couple of questions for you if you wouldn't mind. Usually we book a day trip but have always had a captain and have had great experiences so far but we always have booked through someone. This year we are going with friends who are experienced boaters. They would like to just rent a boat for the day without a captain. In that case could you recommend a reputable place to rent? Also, would he need to bring any credentials to show that he is qualified?

Also, is it not possible to have access to National Park waters if you captain your own boat? Is there such a thing as a day permit? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. Welcome and hope you stick around!
