Can someone please post a picture of a flaming troll? I need a good laugh.
The OT forum is a place to discuss politics, food, other vacas, sickness, death, pets, birthdays, takinis, etc, because many of us feel like this forum is a close family.
Like a close family on Thanksgiving when we stuff ourselves, fight, nap then eat dessert together.
So my advice is, if you don't like the political conversation in the living room, saunter over to the kitchen and talk about food porn. S'pretty easy ta do.
We are all responsible for what we read/don't read on this forum. Just cuz a few heated threads happen isn't a reason to hate fellow forumites, launch personal attacks or leave the forum outright.

I know this is just my own tub of hot water to step in - but - what I was trying to say (meaning it doesn't just apply to politics but that topic was easy to point out) is that you don't post things in general that are just posted to get a rise out of others who you already know don't agree with you. That is trolling - and it just seemed like that has increased over here.
Most people that use our site are adults and can do fine taking care of themselves and certainly dealing with what other people say here. And I think that does happen most of the time. I usually only step in when I am alerted to something several times and it seems that it will be (or become) an issue that is detrimental to the overall health of the forum(s) and this community.

Anthony, it is your playground and you make the rules. If people don't like it, they can go somewhere else, it is really that simple.
I am glad that you made a point of the political posts, I am guilty of getting sucked in and nothing good ever comes of it. I am actually ashamed of some of the things that I have said here, and I apologize for that.
Thank you for giving us a place to chat about non VI things, you did not have to do that for us and for that I am grateful.

I've been avoiding the OT forum because my gag reflex was getting a tad sensitive. It's bad when I put a bookmark on my desktop to the food-porn thread to avoid looking at the rest of the topics. <gag> As tempting as it was to keep a running score of the logic errors and fallacies repeatedly demonstrated...<gag> sorry, I won't start that again.
Thanks Anthony.
Cheers, RickG

I was getting turned off this forum as well. There's enough antagonism in the world without seeking it out here.
Another thanks to Anthony.

Thank you, Anthony. I've been trying to avoid the OT forum too, although there are some subjects over here that I enjoy.

We conservatives continue to support the advertisers on this site !! We stimulate the economy, as much or more as the next guy actually. Sad really. The Liberals that support shutting down the Covseratvive point of view, even here, eee gads.
Bailout? I think so. Sound familiar? Yea.
Thank you Anthony... There are obviously some on here who need looking after.

My suggestion would be to update the rules to reflect that there is to be no politics or religion discussed here, period.
It's easy to say that if you don't like the thread, don't read it.
The problem is some people don't care for other peoples opinions and will do anything to make them "pay for it".
This always seems to move into the other areas of the forum and some people gladly push buttons and the entire forum suffers for it.
I've seen this over and over again in different forums and even BBS boards going back into the early 90's.
Just my .02

i agree, wakey# i moderate a special interest phpbb board# we have a strictly enforced no politics, no religion rule# any topic or reply violating the rule is promptly deleted# keeps (most) everyone happier and focused on the special interest#
