I am still not sure what we're doing on the Jeep rental. We've got time to decide, I'm sure... I probably won't rent from Paris again, because they were real sticklers on the "no sand" policy, and that's near impossible on St. John. We'll see, though...

The real reason that I'm bumping this thread is because I wanted to tell you about the new land-speed record on regular mail to St. John. I mailed my deposit Thursday when I started this thread and I sent it regular first class mail and didn't even write the address in all caps.

I just got an e-mail from Patrice saying she got my deposit. AND thanking me for getting it to her so quickly.

We're staying in Cottage #1. Does anyone know anything about Cottage #1. At least I won't have the super-scary driveway, because I think that's #3.

hey Lulu, what is your training going to be like? will you train on a daily basis?

I am training for a half marathon right now, which is pretty much four training days of varying mileage per week. I'm going to see how I do with that in April, and then I'll come up with a plan of attack for 8 Tuff Miles, although I expect it will be similar.

The hardest part will be replicating the heat during training, because the terrain can be replicated with a topographic map of the course and a treadmill.

Feb is not that hot really Lulu.
For those used to cold weather, it takes getting used to, but being that you will get there a few days before 8 Tuff you can train on island to see how it goes.
I remember when I was on island, listening to Peter talk to people who were signing up for the race and to tell them
1. the grade change is hard for some
2. staying hydrated and if you are used to the cold, come and train a few days before to get acclimated(sp)
