It is hard to know what to say when someone you love is gone. John, I know you lost your battle with cancer last night. But somehow it seems okay. We know that you no longer hurt. And you know how much we loved you. Pictures and words on this post all testify to that. Rest in peace, my friend. We shall see you soon enough.

I'll bet that Howie has a cold beer waiting for him on the other side. So he's in good company.

I know how hard this must be for Amy. My thoughts are with you.

Memorial Service

Amy has made arrangements for a Memorial Service for Mr B on June 13, 2010 (Sunday) at Alleva Funeral Home in Paoli, PA. There will be a Brunch afterward at Embassy Suites. Calling hours will start at 9am on Sunday and the service will start at 10:30.

She has not decided on charities yet that I know of. But that info will be coming soon. She is planning a trip to St. John to take Mr B to the beaches. He said all of them! How could it be any other way?

She is so very grateful to all the heart-felt messages and posts. Her parents and John's parents are amazed. We just have to tell them that it is a St. John thing. This is us, and this is how we do. Thanks to each one of you for showing your love. She got it. And we get it!

Barbara-- kudos to you for keeping us all posted.

This forum has been there for me many times over the years and while it may seem trivial to some, the support of people who share a common interest like we all do is a great comfort in times of personal crisis.

Certainly your efforts are a reminder to all of us how lucky we are to have found such an amazing place to pass the time, both on STJ and in cyberspace.

And definitely a reminder to all of us to cherish every moment we have in this life.

Thanks again for all of your effort to surround Amy and Mr. B with so much love and support at this difficult time.

I second Gromit,

The love we all share for St John is a very powerful bond.

This is a poem or sort of that the Larry, may amazing husband wrote when we first heard that Johns time was limited:

I feel it describes what many of us have found on this forum and Anthony you are to Thank for this special Bond:
----------------------------------------------------

Friends may come and friends may go,but when there is a common bond that is special, ST John is our Bond. The place where strangers from across the continent, no across the world, can come together as a family and celebrate our love for our special Island.

Unless you can call ST John and its people home you may not be able to understand this but those of us who can, truely understand the meaning of friendship. The special times spent with friends on one of ST Johns many beaches is priceless. The memories will be ours forever.

Early mornings on your deck watching the Island spring to life, with the only decission to make is what beach shall we go to today. The days filled with fun, laughter. Those sleepy evenings after supper watching the sun go down with those who are dear to us. Our special Island, our special friends.
