I don't believe that the Constitution sets forth any minimal qualifications for the position of Supreme Court Justice.
With that said, the nominated Justice has to pass Senate confirmation. The Senate typically wants a nominee to have some sort of legal background.
Again, this is not an invitation to go into the Senate confirmation process and the politics involved. C.G. has asked us to keep this thread free from the banter.

Flight is running late...dang. I'm bored.CG:What if Clinton (female variety)was appointed Secretary of State? Huge!
You know Obama is going to appoint her somewhere very useful, where she can make a great impact.

One more time, from the ABA Journal...Obama's lead candidate for Sect'y of State:
SECRETARY OF STATE
Greg Craig
Currently: Partner, Williams & Connolly
Law school: Yale (1972)
Why not a lawyer for State? To Washington insiders, Craig is smart, smooth, more widely experienced and more level-headed than most. After all, he’s a protégé of quintessential insiders Edward Bennett Williams and Joseph Califano. As senior adviser to Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, he was director of policy planning, and served quietly as a go-between on Tibetan issues between the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government. As a staffer for Ted Kennedy in the mid-1980s, he played a key role in getting economic sanctions imposed against the apartheid government of South Africa, and he later represented Elián González’s father in the controversial 2000 custody battle.

He would be smart to tap into her knowledge of the health care/insurance industry.

SJ/NJ...I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic, or what. The last post about the Sect'y of State was a cut and paste from the ABA Journal...those were not my words.

SJ, I didn't see Pete's posts as banter. And I'll have to read back as to where the word "banter" came from anyway...I don't believe I said it. I'm just looking for facts, which those were. I just want a dialogue...information. Opinions are fine, as long as everyone respects everyone elses. Just no arguing, please
With the proper information, I can form my own opinions.

Marriam-Webster defines banter as a verb meaning to speak to or address in a witty and teasing manner. (I know this is accurate, because I Googled it.)
Here's another example.
Hey CAG! Get out there and trick or treat tonight before it's too late. If the polls are accurate, Halloween will never be the same again.

Good one PJ! I just got this one in my e-mail today. Apologies to those who are offended by the language.

SJfromNJ wrote:Hey I just learned this about Obama, he support drivers licences for illegal immigrants.
I've known that from the very beginning and that's where I probably have the biggest problem with Obama. That is a very sensitive issue for me and I have very very strong opinions about it. My city is has been declared a "Sanctuary City" for illegal aliens by our mayor. I won't say any more on this, it just pisses me off too much.
