So.

Small town values aren't a bad thing.
VALUES are not a bad thing. I just happen to disagree with the notion that small towns have a lock on them (I grew up in a town of about 600, my senior class in high school had 70 people, I know small towns and trust me there is no lock on moral superiority there).

Murders happen in small towns too, teenagers get pregnant in small towns too, terrorists (Tim McVeigh for one) come from small towns too.

It is the insinuation that big cities lack values is what is troublesome to me.

The good news here Gina, is that I don't remember the chosen one ever telling us we needed to have "faith". He did say you needed to have "Hope" though, so you should be all set.

According to Gina: "The media elected Obama, and as much as you don't want to hear this, the sheep followed."

Okay, let's see if I'm bright enough to understand your point. I'm a stupid sheep who is incapable of making up my own mind so I voted for whomever the media instructed me to?

Got it. Thanks.

I agree! The only question I have is, was that due to the reigns that were put on her by the McCain people? I've seen her in subsequent interviews since the election and she seems much more comfortable and much more at ease. There were definitely tensions there in terms of what she was and was not supposed to talk about. They really didn't let her go until there were two weeks left. Poor handling, IMO.

Pete...I do not need to speak for Gina...BUT.

I think we all realize tat everybody here is intelligent and capable of making their decisions. Well, the jury is probably still out on me.

Regardless, you have to admit that most people in this country do not follow politics as we here on this thread do. And yes, I think the answers people would give when asked "why?" they were voting for him were, well, less than informed. It was nearly always about a "feeling", an "emotion", "history", or just "Bush sucks". You NEVER heard (or at least I didn't) any tangible, concrete, policy reasons as to why people were voting for him. And the current apathy from the general public towards this trillion dollar debacle is evidence of that.

You need look no further than Chris Matthews, who gets goose bumps up his legs when the man speaks. C'mon now.

Nobody thinks you're a sheep Pete, just an idealist. Kidding!

[quote="soxfan22 How are we going to pay down our debt to China, to ensure that my two kids and your two children don't have to learn Mandarin?

[/quote]

Actually, when the older one sought my opinion on what language to take in college I responded Mandarin. I believe in being prepared to meet the challenges of a changing world. It's a changing world, some may not want to accept this, but that's not going to stop it from happening. Adapt or get run over! I want to make sure she is prepared for success in for the future, not for some nostalgic notion of how the world should be. She didn't listen (what else is new) and chose Korean instead. But she is now appearing on the hottest(and most ridiculous) Korean TV show called Misuda, google Jessica and Misuda to check her out. She's the non Asian girl from the USA

Now I'm really done!

You all are really much more informed than I on all of the different issues, however, there is one fact that remains a certainty. It really didn't matter, because whomever won the Democratic Nomination was going to be elected President. That's why Hillary fought so hard to get the nod. She knew she would be elected if she won the nomination. If the press had been iin love with her and not Obama, we would be celebrating the first woman prsident today.

What really metters now, is that we get on with trying to do the best we can with what we've got, and God help us with that, we are going to need it!!

Out...

The Leading Posters on this thread for Monday 1/26:

1. Soxfan 12
2. Flipflop 10
3. Gina 8

(That's just today's postings, not totals for the thread).

I appreciate that some of the leaders did share with me about the kind of jobs they have that permit them to be online this much. I've started looking around so that maybe i could find a job that would permit me to spend more time online than my current one does.

Well, Pete, if this was the only post of mine that you have read then I could see why you draw the conclusion that you have drawn. But if you have read my other posts and attempted to keep them in context you would know that I am not talking about people who have done their homework. I respect the decision of people who have looked at the candidates and voted because of policy. On the other hand . . . was this an attempt to twist my words as a personal attack in order to make me look like I have personally offended you?? The answer to that is pretty clear to me.

If you still don't get where I am coming from read Sox's post because he says it better than me.

Gina,

I didn't twist your words, in fact I quoted them directly. Perhaps your words were ill-advised.

As an aside, I think this is the second or third time you have suggested that I not read what you post because Sox says it better. Let's both do this...I'll stop posting on this topic if you do. Sox can do your talking for you and I'll let Flip talk for me.

OK, flip, I am going to admit defeat on this. I did not take it the same way but your points are valid.
