As a Dive Instructor I can recommend: Closed fin if you are only snorkeling. Mares makes a wonderful closed fin one that I dive in as well. They are not the cheapest but I have had mine for over 6 years and I am in the water 4 to 5 days a week. If you want you can use a sport sock in in if it chafes...

Owned a Suzuki when I lived on island, it is great, good for 2 people and easier to squeeze into parking spaces!

If it was a Discover Scuba dive then pass in St John. Cayman is one of the best dive spots in this part of the world. You won't have the near the water clarity in the USVIs. I know, I am an instructor and have worked in both places.

October is historically the worse month for bad storms. Mother Nature has her own plans but even when I lived there, Aug-Sept was a wonderful time...less people and less airport hassle. Enjoy!

Ask the owners/managers of where they are renting. Perhaps they can offer assistance in fining a private taxi/driver for their needs.

Octopi are fairly territorial so anywhere they have been seen is still a great spot. Enjoy!

If you can get to Ft Lauderdale I suggest changing airlines to Jet Blue. They are absolutely fabulous. The Ft Lauderdale airport is easy to navigate. Jet Blue flies more than one flight a day.

Jost if you want a real laid back place, nice beaches and good bars. Tortola if you want upscale...as in shopping.

And the one with the most toys....in an election that means money wins. The best election money can buy is the US one. Rock on!
